In Finland, blueberries are much more than just a fruit. They are an important part of everyday life and culture. Every summer, families go into the forests to pick blueberries. This activity is free for everyone, thanks to a special law called "everyman's right." It means people can walk in nature and pick wild berries, no matter who owns the land.

Blogger Varpu Rusila explains that blueberry picking is a wonderful way to enjoy nature and relax. Many Finnish children learn from their parents where to find the best berries. They often spend long, sunny days in the forest, filling their baskets with small, dark blueberries. These wild blueberries are different from the big ones you see in supermarkets. They are smaller, darker, and full of flavor. Finns believe wild blueberries are healthier because they contain more vitamins and antioxidants (抗氧化剂).

Blueberries are used in many Finnish dishes. People put them in porridge (粥), smoothies, ice cream, and of course, the famous blueberry pie. Cafés and restaurants in Helsinki, the capital city, sell many blueberry products, such as blueberry juice, blueberry jam, and even blueberry chocolate. In the summer, you can find fresh blueberries at local markets. In the winter, Finns use frozen berries from their freezers.

For Finns, blueberries are not just about taste. They bring health and happiness. Picking them in the forest is a way to connect with nature and forget the stress of daily life. It is a tradition that brings families together and reminds people of the simple joys in life. That is why Finns love their wild blueberries so much.
